Addiction Recovery Meetings
(Should really be called: "Applying the Atonement of Christ in Our Lives" meeting)
English: Held weekly at the Annandale Stake Center on Sundays at 7:00 pm in the High Council room.
Spanish: Held weekly at the Annandale Stake Center on Sundays at 5:30 pm in the High Council room
This is an addiction recovery support group. It is for anyone struggling with an addiction or compulsive behavior, and is open to males and females. It is for members of the church and our friends. The support group meetings use an adapted version of the Twelve Steps of Alcoholics Anonymous that teaches addiction recovery principles from a gospel perspective. Addictions can include the use of substances such as tobacco, alcohol, coffee, tea, and drugs (both prescription and illegal), and behaviors such as gambling, codependency, viewing pornography, inappropriate sexual behavior, and disorders associated with eating. Those struggling with addiction or compulsive behaviors can attend to receive support, help, and fellowship from others in similar circumstances as well as from the volunteer Church-service missionaries and facilitators. The meetings are free, participants remain ananymous, and all information shared will remain confidential.
Emergency Preparedness
Members of the Church have been counseled for many years to be prepared for adversity. Preparation, both spiritual and temporal, can dispel fear (see Doctrine and Covenants 38:30).
